Enterprise Imaging is a software-based image management solution to be used by radiologists, cardiologists and other medical personnel. It has a robust set of image acquisition, storage, management of imaging and clinical information, visualization, workflow, collaboration, and diagnostic tools. The Sr Director, Software Development responsible for leadership and execution of software engineering activities for Enterprise Imaging products and cloud solutions. The position will lead multiple software development teams, drive process improvements, provide direction and motivate members, creating an atmosphere of trust, leveraging diverse views, coaching staff, and encouraging continuous improvement and innovation. Primary Responsibilities: Lead a global engineering team building lifesaving imaging software, delivering on a strategic roadmap for hybrid cloud solutions Oversee software development initiatives across teams and ensure timely delivery with high quality, scalability, and security while managing technical debt Coach/Mentor high-performing teams, developing a culture of trust, excellence, and engagement Encourage innovation by instilling in teams the curiosity to understand customer problems and consider new approaches to solving them, and the courage to make needed changes Partner with Product Management to understand market needs and customer problems, and align development capacity and investments to meet prioritized needs Drive continuous process improvements, shift-left approaches and new technologies including AI to automate and improve execution Improve team alignment through understanding of common principles and adoption of common tools and approaches Implement industry best practices and standards to ensure security and compliance with regulatory requirements You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in the software engineering profession 4+ years serving in a management/director role (where you led through other leaders) Experience in medical imaging or other regulated medical device software development Experience leading teams, including demonstrated ability to inspire others, resolve disputes & make hard decisions Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment Experience with directly explaining complex issues to executives (internal, vendors and/or customers) to ensure confidence Preferred Qualifications: Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry Experience developing software transitioning from on-prem to cloud-based solutions Deep professional network and proven ability to recruit and retain talent All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. Canada Residents Only: The salary range for Canada residents is $138,600 to $288,000 per year.
